چکیده

Dear Editor, Hearing loss is a known outcome following head injury. Ipsilateral transverse type of temporal bone fracture is commonly associated with sensorineural hearing loss. Labyrinthine concussion is believed to be the mechanism of contralateral profound deafness. Our cases illustrate patients who sustained extradural haemorrhage following a motor vehicle accident with profound sensorineural deafness on the opposite ear.

Factors Associated with Vestibular Disorders in Patients with Sensorineural Hearing Loss Due to Acute Acoustic Trauma: A brief report

Background & Aim: Acute acoustic trauma is an important cause of sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). Determination of the frequency and contributing factors for vestibular disorders is important, therefore, the current study was performed to assess these factors in patients referred to the ears, nose, and throat (ENT) clinic of one of the hospitals in Tehran, Iran, during the years 2017 to 2019....

Anosmia associated with hearing loss and benign positional vertigo after head trauma.

It is well known that head trauma may cause hearing loss, which can be either conductive or sensorineural. Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo and olfactory dysfunction due to head trauma are also well known. The association between sensorineural hearing loss and anosmia, following head trauma, is extremely rare. Two rare cases of post-traumatic occurrence of hearing loss, olfactory dysfunctio...
